Commission approves deal for Palms casino in Las Vegas to pay $1M after drug, prostitute sting
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The Nevada Gaming Commission has signed off on a $1 million fine against the Palms Casino Resort for failing to prevent nightclub employees from providing drugs and prostitutes to customers.
During a series of stings last March, employees of nightclubs at the Las Vegas casino accepted payments from undercover agents for the illegal transactions.
A complaint released earlier this month says hostesses and bottle runners offered to sell ecstasy, the prescription painkiller oxycodone, and $18,000 worth of cocaine.
The Gaming Commission approved the proposed settlement Thursday. Police say they also expect to arrest some of the people involved.
Palms spokesman Alex Acuna says the Palms' parent company, FP Holdings LP, is grateful that the settlement had been approved. He says the company is working to prevent similar crimes from occurring in the future.
