Crane collapses at National Cathedral

When it rains, it pours.
Or, in this case, when an earthquake damages a historic cathedral and a 500-foot crane is called in to remove debris, said crane collapses and damages two other buildings.
The National Cathedral confirmed via Twitter that Wednesday's collapse damaged the Herb Cottage, which houses the cathedral's gift shop, and the Church House, which has office space. Several vehicles were also damaged.
No injuries were reported.
The Washington area was experiencing heavy rain and was under a flash flood warning about the time the crane collapsed, but there are no indications that the incident was weather-related.
After an earthquake damaged the building Aug. 23, the cathedral was set to be closed until the weekend of Sept. 11, when a three-day series of events was scheduled to commemorate the decade since the terrorist attacks. President Obama was scheduled to speak at the cathedral Sept. 11.
