'Low Winter Sun' Poster Promises More Gritty Drama on AMC

Take note of where the punctuation is placed in the key art for AMC's upcoming drama "Low Winter Sun" … the text on the poster reads: "Good Man. Cop. Killer." It would also accurately describe the series to leave that second period out.

"Low Winter Sun," which will premiere on Aug. 11 after "Breaking Bad," is a remake of the British miniseries of the same name. It stars Mark Strong (who starred in the British series) and Lennie James ("The Walking Dead") as a pair of Detroit police detectives who are wrapped up in the murder of a fellow cop.

Strong's Frank Agnew is shown in the poster, which teases both the intense drama of the series and the role that the gritty city of Detroit — seen in the background — will play in what promises to be the network's next big show.

In addition to Strong and James — who's already well-known to AMC fans for his role as Morgan in "The Walking Dead" — the 10-episode first season of "Low Winter Sun" also stars Ruben Santiago-Hudson, ("Castle") as precinct commander Dawson; "Breaking Bad" alum David Costabile as internal affairs investigator Simon Boyd; James Ransone ("Treme") as Detroit mobster Damon Callis; "Sons of Anarchy" alum Sprague Grayden as Callis's wife, Maya; and Erika Alexander ("Living Single") as Detroit cop Louise Cullen.
