TV Traffic Reporter Sings His Own Rendition of “Let it Go” From Frozen

As evidenced by YouTube, Local 12’s Bob Herzog is far from your average morning TV traffic reporter. The Cincinnati-based TV personality has a number of viral videos to his credit, but his latest might end up as his most popular yet.

Inspired by seeing the movie “Frozen” with his daughter twice and listening to the songs “several thousand times,” Herzog put his own spin on the soundtrack. Last week during his Dance Party Friday segment, the traffic anchor sang “Just Don’t Go,” a parody of “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel.

“Highways are crawling like some slow ants in a line,” he sings on the traffic center TV set. “They won’t all stay in, heaven knows I tried.”

Cincinnati, like many other parts of the country, has had its share of awful winter weather. Of course the inclement conditions brought closings, delays, cancellations, and slow commutes to area. Throughout the video, these conditions and the accidents they’ve caused are seen. As he presumably cautioned for most of the season so far, Herzog warned motorists to beware.

“I played it for my kids last night — not the video, just the audio,” Herzog revealed on the CBS affiliate after the production finished. His co-anchors were laughing hysterically and wondering if there was anything “wrong” with him. “My son Sam looked at me, and I think there was shame in his eyes.”

That probably won’t stop Herzog from continuing with his Dance Party Friday. The segment usually features some awkward dance moves and parodies of popular songs — from Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball” (“Pumpkin Y’all”) to Lorde’s “Royals” (“Loyal,” as in their viewers).

Herzog was born in Cincinnati and joined Local 12 in December 2005. “Just Don’t Go” is currently his third most popular YouTube upload, with more than 38,000 views.
