Has this ever happened to you? You go to a wedding reception to celebrate. You have a few drinks. Maybe you take to the stage and do a little performance. Somebody videos it and puts it on Instagram. Cute. Except whenthat somebody is a celebrity, and now, like it or not, you're Internet famous.
That's what happened to Sarah Lane.
The 26-year-old council worker from Bridgend, Wales, in the United Kingdom, was the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding Saturday. Actress Michelle Rodriguez from "Avatar" and "Fast & Furious" movie series, also a friend of the bride, was in attendance.
Michelle took a video of Sarah, dressed in a beaded bridesmaid dress and a flower crown, performing the 4 Non Blonde's hit "What's Up" at the wedding reception. She then posted it to her Instagram — which has about 800,000 followers — and wrote, "I love life people are resilient to life love and the endurance of it all"
Sarah recounted to the Daily Mail how she found out.
She says she went for brunch on Sunday and someone said, "You're on Instagram." She responded, "I know I'm on Instagram," and they said, "No, you're actually on Instagram — Michelle put a clip up of you."
Sarah added, "I was summoned to the stage quite late in the night after a few bottles of wine. I'm mortified, I just wish it wasn't that clip."
The video has been liked by more than 8,000 people, and Sarah has even been offered singing jobs because of it.
Have your wedding receptions antics ever been shared online? It's happened to me, thanks to my brother … except I was just dancing.
