Kids Re-enact the Oscars' Best-Picture Nominees

The 86th Academy Awards are just 10 days away. If you haven't made your choice yet for best picture, let a group of talented kids assist you.

The YouTube channel CineFix teamed up with the website Mom.me to present a re-enactment of scenes from the movies up for the night's biggest award. The four-minute clip covers eight of the nine nominees. It starts off with "Captain Phillips," the true story of the 2009 hijacking of an American cargo ship by Somali pirates. One kid plays Phillips and another pretends to be a pirate with a toy gun. The fake mustache and goatee on the child playing Phillips is a nice touch.

Next up is "Her," in which a recently divorced writer falls in love with an artificial-intelligence computer operating system. A kid playing Theodore asks the computer why she's leaving and receives a response that doesn't make any sense.

Then the kids cover "American Hustle." We are gifted with three quick scenes from the movie that stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence.

"I wanna build a casino in New Jersey!" shouts the kid portraying the character of Mayor Carmine Polito of Camden, New Jersey. Jeremy Renner played the role in the movie, which was based on real-life Mayor Angelo Errichetti.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" is next. Thankfully, the kids re-enact one of the tamer scenes, which originally featured Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The treatment for "Gravity" might be the kids' best work. When a boy playing George Clooney's character insists, "You have to let go," a girl playing Sandra Bullock's character asks, "Why?"

"It's the theme of the movie!" the boy responds. They might just have the best explanation yet.

Other films featured include "12 Years a Slave," "Nebraska," and "Dallas Buyers Club."

"Philomena" isn't included because the kids claim they didn't see it. Commenters on the YouTube video joke that they aren't the only ones.
