High School Student’s Rant About Teacher Goes Viral

In case you didn't know, Tuesday, May 7, was Teacher Appreciation Day. Well, someone should tell that to high school student Jeff Bliss of Duncanville, Texas, who was featured in a video posted to YouTube on Monday. The video, which was shot by a fellow student and has now gone viral, features Bliss ripping into his world history teacher for what he believes are poor teaching practices.

And if you think Bliss regrets his actions, think again. He spoke to ABC's WFAA about why he lashed out at the teacher. He said, "I believe that somebody needed to say this. I want to see a teacher stand up and interact with the students, get involved, discuss, talk, question, and get deep into the subject."

Tammy Kuykendall, chief communications officer for the Duncanville Independent School District, said, "The district is aware of the video, and we are currently addressing the situation."

The video has now been viewed more than 140,000 times. Most of the reactions to Bliss's rant have been positive. One commenter wrote, "Nice one Jeff. At least one person in that room was giving a damn about educating the students. Shame it wasn't the teacher." Hmm, now there's an idea for you, Jeff: Use that passion to become a good teacher yourself one day.
