Dog Helps Firefighters Remove Damaged Tree

Dogs are some of the most loyal nonhuman companions there are. They're known for their unconditional love and affection, and their ability to fetch and follow commands, but what about a dog who can help pull a rope? A dog in the Netherlands decided to volunteer his strength when he and his walker were passing by a group of firefighters who were using a rope to pull down a damaged tree.

The dog unexpectedly approached the part of rope that was lying on the ground, grabbed hold of it, and began to tug away, right along with the men in uniform. After making some headway, the firefighters and their new volunteer were successful in their efforts, and the tree came down. But the little helper kept going, and tugged on the rope a bit longer.

The video of the dog in action was posted on November 26, and it already has more than 70,000 views—and that number is still rising. No one is quite sure what the dog's motivation was for helping out. One commenter suggested, "He just wanted to get to the cat that was in that tree." That's certainly a possibility, but it's also quite likely that he just wanted to lend a helping paw.
