DJ Releases Mashup of Every Big Song from 2013

In what has become an annual tradition since 2007, DJ Earworm released his mashup this week of America’s biggest songs for the past year. The list is determined using the most popular hits from Billboard’s weekly Hot 100 chart.

This year’s track, entitled “United State of Pop 2013 (Living the Fantasy), is reflective of a slightly-different tone in pop music this year. While the mix has its moments of celebration in songs like Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child,” the overall vibe is a little slower. Songs like Imagine Dragons’ hits “Radioactive” and “Demons” along with Lorde’s breakout single “Royals” lend to this. Of course Miley Cyrus (who also topped our year-end overall searches list) is featured with her tracks “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop.”

There are three Justin Timberlake songs in this year’s production. The pop star’s “Suit and Tie” and “Mirrors” are featured in the mix. Timberlake also sang the chorus of another top hit, Jay Z’s “Holy Grail.” The former boy-band member returned to music this year with The 20/20 Experience, his first album since 2006. Timberlake went on to release a second installment of the LP in September. Both debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart.

Since the release of the first mashup six years ago, DJ Earworm has earned international acclaim. The producer, nee Jordan Roseman, now regularly finds his pieces played on the radio. He also offers up the year-end mashup as a free download through his SoundCloud page.
