80s Icon in Hot Water, a Facebook Status Leads To an Arrest, and a Whale Thanks its Rescuers in a Touching Way

Animal rights activist Morrissey, the former frontman for '80s rock band the Smiths, has ignited a fire across social media. At a concert in Poland, he told the crowd that

the Norway massacre and bombing that left 76 people dead pales in comparison to acts committed by fast food restaurants. The comment was met with outrage on Twitter, where some pledged to boycott his music. A vegetarian said the rocker gives them a bad rap, tweeting, "vegetarians across the world point at morrissey and say, 'we're not with him.'" Morrissey is even being compared to conservative radio show host Glenn Beck, who earlier this week was criticized for comparing Norway's victims to Hitler Youth camps. If you're on the run from the cops, a word to the wise: Don't tell the world where you are. Victor Burgos is a 29-year-old domestic violence suspect who has been wanted by upstate New York police for more than a month. When his mug shot was put on the Police Department's website, Burgos dared police to find him on Facebook, writing, "Catch me if you can, I'm in Brooklyn." Well, the police hit the proverbial "like" button on the comment -- they nabbed Burgos in Brooklyn on Monday night. "He told us via Facebook to come and get him and we did," Utica police Sgt. Steve Hauck told the New York Daily News. Guess what Burgos was doing when they caught him? He was on Facebook.

And finally, a video of an at-sea rescue is going viral. In it, Michael Fishbach of the Great Whale Conservancy, explains his encounter with a humpback whale trapped in fishing nets off the coast of Mexico. Armed with only a small knife, Fishbach and his crew tirelessly worked to free the creature for more than an hour. When they finally succeeded, the whale thanked them in the best way it could: by jumping out of the water (a la "Free Willy") almost 40 times! The video has gotten more than 2 million views on YouTube, and has tweeters saying it brought tears to their eyes. Even actor Leonardo DiCaprio tweeted the video to his 1.2 million followers.
