Foreign policy is likely to be high on the presidential politics agenda again Friday, especially after a top foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney told The Washington Post that this week's attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions probably wouldn't have happened if Romney were in the White House.
If Romney wants to add to his adviser's comments on Friday, it will be while campaigning in Ohio. And if running mate Paul Ryan wants to follow up, it will be while stumping in Virginia. Craig Romney also will campaign Friday in Virginia.
Second lady Dr. Jill Biden and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius also will be out on the trail Friday, with Biden in Minnesota and Sebelius in Iowa. Also, first lady Michelle Obama will attend a fundraiser in Washington, D.C.
President Barack Obama has no campaign events Friday on his schedule, but he and the first lady will welcome the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams to the White House. The president and the first lady will both make remarks at the ceremony.
The Value Voters Summit, hosted by the Family Research Council, is under way in Washington, D.C. Speakers at the annual gathering of social conservatives include Ryan, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann.
Ryan will be in Florida on Saturday, Dr. Biden will be in Michigan and James Taylor will be singing for Obama at a "chords and conversation" in Dallas. On Sunday, Dr. Biden will head to Pennsylvania.
And then there is this: The first lady appears on the "The Dr. Oz Show" show Friday to discuss her Let's Move! Initiative. She'll focus on improvements to the federal guidelines for school lunches and updates to the Presidential Youth Fitness Program.
And this: Sunday marks the 4th anniversary of the federal government bailing out troubled insurance giant AIG with an $85 billion loan.
