Washington already is getting back to normal after the election. There are dueling press conferences on Friday.
First comes Speaker of the House John Boehner on Friday morning. Then comes President Barack Obama early in the afternoon.
The topic: The economy and jobs in general, and the "fiscal cliff" in particular. The "fiscal cliff" is a package of tax increases and deep government spending cuts that automatically will be triggered in early January unless the White House and congressional Republicans can make a deal.
What's at stake? Economists have warned that "the fiscal cliff" could push the economy back into a recession.
President Obama will mark Veterans Day on Sunday by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and participating in a remembrance ceremony at the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery.
Otherwise, it's a quiet weekend on the politics front, except, of course, for the usual Saturday addresses from Obama, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. And then there are the network talk shows on Sunday.
And then there is this: Sunday is the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Army turning over its base at Long Binh to the South Vietnamese army, symbolizing the end of direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War.
