The TicketThursday in politics: Obama, Romney begin post-Sandy push, and more
Now begins the stage of the presidential campaign that really is the homestretch, the final push, the closing arguments — whatever term you want to use.
President Barack Obama will be back on the campaign trail Thursday after taking three days off to monitor the response to Superstorm Sandy, including a tour Wednesday of hard-hit New Jersey with Gov. Chris Christie.
Obama has events planned in Wisconsin, Nevada and Colorado. He has not given a traditional campaign speech since Saturday.
Vice President Joe Biden will be on the stump, too, Thursday with stops planned in Iowa.
Republican nominee Mitt Romney will focus on Virginia, and running mate Paul Ryan will be in Colorado and Nevada.
All the states on the schedules are battleground states, and polls show all of them tight, tight, tight.
Both campaigns say the message between now and Election Day will be what the next four years would look like if their candidate is elected.
Also worth noting Thursday: Ann Romney will campaign in Ohio, first lady Michelle Obama in Florida, and former President Bill Clinton in Wisconsin and Ohio. Even Ryan's sister, Janet Ryan, and sister-in-law, Oakleigh Ryan, are getting in on the action. They will campaign in Wisconsin.
And then there is this: Thursday marks five days until Election Day.
