PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—A day after President Barack Obama officially accepted his party's nomination for a second term, Mitt Romney launched a major ad blitz in eight key battleground states.
The campaign is airing 15 different TV ads, which all argue that the country is not better off under Obama's policies.
Romney is airing two ads apiece in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina and Ohio; three separate ads in Virginia; and one ad in Nevada and New Hampshire. The ads, which are posted on Romney's YouTube page, focus on issues including defense, energy, the deficit and families. All feature the same clip of Romney's speech at the Republican National Convention.
"This president can ask us to be patient," Romney says in the ads. "This president can tell us it was someone else's fault. But this president cannot tell us that you are better off today than when he took office."
The Romney campaign declined to say how much it is spending on the ads, but a press release called attention to where the ads are running—something Romney aides almost never do publicly.
