Pro-Obama super PAC releases Olympic-themed ad against Romney

The main super PAC supporting President Barack Obama's re-election bid is set to release an Olympic-themed ad aimed at Mitt Romney's international business record.

Paid for by Priorities USA Action, the one-minute spot shows footage of Romney at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2002. The ad makes it appear as though he's welcoming China, India, Burma, Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, which is meant to suggest that Romney has outsourced American jobs to the first three countries and stores part of his money in offshore accounts in the latter three. (Romney led the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics.)

"Ya gotta say this about Mitt Romney," an announcer in the ad says. "He sure knows how to go for the gold...for himself."

The ad will air in swing states Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia and is part of the group's $20 million ad campaign against Romney.

During the Olympics, the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future will run ads in favor of the presumptive Republican nominee and the Obama campaign has purchased $5.5 million in ad space during the Games as well.

Update: Romney's campaign responds:

"When Mitt Romney was working to turn around the Olympics, Barack Obama was voting 'present' in the Illinois State Senate," said Amanda Henneberg, a campaign spokeswoman. "President Obama does not have a record to run to run on, so his liberal allies are resorting to false attacks in an effort to distract voters. President Obama's record of broken promises and failed policies can't match Mitt Romney's record of creating jobs and rescuing troubled enterprises."

SCRIPT: "ROMNEY'S GOLD"

ANNOUNCER:

Welcome to the Olympics. There's Mitt Romney, who ran the Salt Lake City Games, waving to...

China - home to a billion people. Thousands owe their jobs to Mitt Romney's companies.

India, which also gained jobs thanks to Romney, an outsourcing pioneer.

And Burma, where Romney had the uniforms made for the 2002 games.

We know the Swiss have a special place in Mitt Romney's wallet — er - heart.

He kept millions in Swiss banks — those Swiss sure know how to keep a secret.

Speaking of secrets, there's Bermuda. Home to a secretive corporation set up by Romney. No one knows why. And Romney won't tell.

And the Cayman Islands. Where Romney keeps millions to avoid U.S. taxes.

Ya gotta say this about Mitt Romney. He sure knows how to go for the gold...for himself.
