Photo of the day: Sen. Ben Cardin talks to wounded warriors

The "Hotels for Heroes" program will allow Americans to donate unused hotel rewards points to the family members of wounded troops. U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin and Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger announced the start of the program at the JW Marriott in Washington on Monday. Hotels for Heroes, which was co-authored by the two Maryland Democrats, builds on the successful "Hero Miles" program, which offers free round-trip airfare to wounded soldiers, their families and their friends.

Correction: In an earlier version of this story, Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger was misidentified as a Republican. He is a Democrat.
