Obama to discuss gas prices in Thursday Miami speech

President Obama will discuss painfully high gasoline prices — and defend his record on energy production at home — in a speech at the University of Miami on Thursday, an administration official confirmed Tuesday.

Rising costs at the pump, partly the result of turmoil in the Middle East, could threaten the timid economic recovery and with it Obama's reelection chances.

The Miami Hurricane student newspaper had some of the salient details on Monday.
