Now that Newt Gingrich is no longer running for president, the former House speaker has settled back into one of his favorite pastimes: talking about cute animals on Twitter.

En route to campaign for Mitt Romney in Florida, Gingrich spied a couple of FBI dogs on his plane and immediately posted a message to his more than 1.4 million Twitter followers. "Dogs are very child friendly," he wrote. "Kids like them."

Upon landing, the former speaker marveled at how quiet the dogs were on the flight. "I think they impressed everyone on the plane," he wrote.

Gingrich's Twitter messages come just a week after he publicly admired the "large hairy armadillos" at the Rome Zoo.
