Liveblogging the South Carolina GOP debate with ABC, the Daily Caller & Yahoo News

And then there were five: Michele Bachmann quit the campaign after the Iowa caucuses, and Jon Huntsman finally agreed Monday morning that New Hampshire had voted him off the island last week, leaving only Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in the race for the Republican Party's 2012 presidential nomination.

The five remaining candidates will be in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Monday night for a debate that will be televised on Fox News--the first of two debates before Saturday's first-in-the-South primary on Saturday.

During the debate, read and contribute to our liveblog above, which will feature real-time discussion and analysis from Yahoo News and ABC News journalists, including David Chalian, the Washington bureau chief for Yahoo News; Rick Klein, the senior Washington editor for ABC News' "World News with Diane Sawyer"; and Chris Suellentrop, the deputy editor for blogs--including the Ticket--at Yahoo News. The live blog also features tweets from Yahoo News and ABC News journalists.

Also participating will be Tucker Carlson, the editor of the Daily Caller, along with a gang of Daily Caller reporters and editors.

Reader comments to the liveblog will be moderated by Chris Wilson, the editor of the Signal, the Yahoo News predictions blog.

Our discussion begins at 8:45 p.m. ET. The debate will begin at 9 p.m. ET. You can watch it here.
