John Cusack may, according to Deadline.com, play right-wing rabble-rouser Rush Limbaugh in an upcoming biopic.
Cusack's production company, New Crime Productions, released a statement.
"New Crime Productions and John Cusack are currently considering a project about the larger-than-life radio personality, Rush Limbaugh. Betty Thomas, who covered similar terrain in her portrait of Howard Stern, is interested in directing. The script would explore the rise and reinvention of American Talk Radio, and Limbaugh's continued influence and impact over the last three decades in that world."
The film, which is in its early stages, is sure to cause an uproar should it see the light of day. Despite the assertion that the film will be nonpartisan, it's hard to imagine a final product free of controversy. Cusack is an outspoken Democrat. He's appeared in several politicized films, including 1992's "Bob Roberts," a mockumentary starring Tim Robbins as a right-wing folk singer running for office.
