The TicketDemocratic group holds newtgingrich.com hostage
Newt Gingrich would appreciate it if the American public forgot about his bills at Tiffany & Co.
But if you visit newtgingrich.com, you may find yourself redirected to the jewelry giant's very own website.
Democratic opposition research group American Bridge 21st Century on Wednesday revealed that they are the proud owners of newtgingrich.com.
Not only that, they want to give you the opportunity to take control of the site.
"With the holiday season rapidly upon us, what do you get for the Republican primary candidate who has everything?" the group wrote in a press release sent Wednesday. "We're asking for $1 million, but we'd be happy to accept $500,000 in bling. Heck in the spirit of Christmas we might even let it go for $10,000," they joked.
And they even posted it on Craigslist.
Currently, the site redirects visitors to one of several sites with negative connotations for the former speaker, including: a Greece travel site (top Gingrich staff resigned after the candidate took a cruise to Greece mid-campaign); Tiffany & Co. (Gingrich came under scrutiny for his pricey credit line at Tiffany's); and a news story on Gingrich accidentally lauding a porn company (Gingrich inadvertently told a porn superstore they were receiving a business award.)
