Ann Romney ‘drives a couple Cadillacs,’ Mitt Romney says

DETROIT—All across the country, Mitt Romney has talked up his "love" for parts of America. In Iowa, it was the land. In New Hampshire, it was the lakes. In Colorado, it was the mountains. And in a speech here on Friday, Romney said, "I love cars."

Romney said he owns a Ford Mustang and a pick-up truck while his wife, Ann, drives "a couple of Cadillacs," in an offhand remark during a question-and-answer session after a speech on economic policy.

The remark, which probably doesn't help Romney downplay the fact he's one of the wealthiest Americans ever to seek the presidency, instantly became the talk of political Twitter.

It wasn't the first time Romney has talked up his car collection. He said almost the same thing at an event in Tuscon in September.

Asked about the remark after the speech, the Romney campaign said Ann Romney owns two models of the Cadillac SRX—one a 2007 model and the other a 2010. One vehicle is at the couple's home in La Jolla, Calif., while the other is in Massachusetts, where the Romney's primary residence is.

On Sunday, Romney will emphasize his love of cars even more. He's set to attend the Daytona 500.
