How are you feeling at the start of President Barack Obama’s second term? He’ll deliver his State of the Union address Tuesday, but, before he does, we want you to show us how the state of the union is affecting you. Yahoo News is publishing readers' perspectives and photos. Here's how you can participate:

What’s an issue close to you that other Americans also might be dealing with, and how do you feel about it? Why is it personally important to you? Are you optimistic about where the country is headed? What should we do as a nation to address our needs?

Some possible topics to talk about are:
* The economy
* Immigration reform
* Gun control
* Federal spending
* Environmental protection
* Gay marriage
* A changing military
* Education reform
* Health care
* Afghanistan
* Washington gridlock
* General outlook/feeling about the nation

Take a photo that represents an issue you care about and explain your state of mind about it in 75 to 100 words. Flickr users can join the Yahoo News group and put their photos and descriptions there, or you can email us your submissions at contributor-news@yahoo-inc.com. Include your first and last name and your city and state. We look forward to seeing your photos!
