Kim Kardashian to Finally Attend the Met Gala?

Cinderella didn't have a television empire, endorsement bonanza, or vigilant momager to help her social ascent, but she got to hit the ball a lot sooner than Kim Kardashian.

The ubiquitous Kim has reportedly been trying to gain access to the prestigious Met Gala for years, according to numerous reports, and may finally have her shot this May thanks to boyfriend Kanye West.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute sees a swanky annual fundraiser, safeguarded by Vogue editor and Conde Nast creative director Anna Wintour who is long said to think that Kardashian isn't suitable for the magazine's aspirational tone or for the gala's absurd guest list -- one that consists of the fashion elite, Hollywood and recording royalty, political giants, and old American money.

But West, Kim's beau and father to the child they're expecting in July, has reportedly found a loophole. He's been tapped to perform at this year's "Punk: Chaos to Couture"-themed show, according to Life & Style magazine.

"Because Kanye is performing he was allowed to invite her," the mag said, citing a source.

Reps for both Kardashian and the Met did not immediately return requests for comment.

The plus-one factor could work out. In 2010, Nicole Richie attended the Met fete on the arm of Joel Madden (who was hired to spin the cocktail reception prior to dinner), though her high-end House of Harlow designs could easily make her a lock for an invite.

Kim's has other potential allies in Wintour's ear. Beyoncé, wife of Jay-Z, might be sympathetic to Kim's plight and use her pull as co-chair of this year's gala to secure the invitation.

There's also Vera Wang, a long time family friend who designed Kim's elaborate wedding dress when she tied the knot to Kris Humphries (and now that all that mess is behind her, the gala could be the perfect place to brainstorm dress number two).
