iPhone 5 preorder number leads to German adult dating hotline.

We're sure there are some of you who stayed up to preorder the iPhone 5, and that's likely the scenario in every country where the phone has first become available. In Germany, for instance, a carrier called Deutsche Telekom sent its subscribers a voucher via a text message that guaranteed them a slot in the preorder list. But unlike you folks who were (hopefully) able to preorder, the German subscribers who called the phone number in that voucher weren't even able to talk to the carrier's reps. That's because the phone number they received actually belongs to an adult dating hotline.

Turns out Deutsche Telekom sent its subscribers a number that's one digit too long. That it dialed a hotline that advertised "hot dating fun" was a hilarious gaffe. Of course, people who only wanted to make sure they get an iPhone 5 when it starts shipping may have been a lot less amused, but we can't imagine anyone still being upset at what happened. The carrier already apologized and sent out a second set of vouchers, the adult dating hotline is a free service and nobody was charged for the calls, and this obviously makes for a great conversation topic. Meanwhile, in the U.S., Apple and iPhone 5's multiple carriers are having a hard time keeping up with the demand and have pushed back shipping dates.
