HBO Go streaming app comes to the Kindle Fire

You already stream shows and movies on your Kindle Fire via Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Instant Video, but if you're an HBO fan, you'll love the newest addition to the tiny tablet's arsenal of streaming apps: HBO Go. Starting today, you can download the HBO Go app from the Amazon Appstore for free and start streaming shows such as Game of Thrones and True Blood.

HBO Go, which also recently became available for Xbox 360, works in conjunction with an HBO subscription. Its arrival to the Kindle Fire marks the first time it becomes available on an Android tablet, though Kindle Fire can barely be classified as one since it comes installed with a heavily altered Amazon version of the Android platform. Android smartphone, iPhone, and iPad owners have long been able to stream with the app.

The app, unfortunately, doesn't work with all cable providers; if you're a Time Warner or a Brighthouse Communications subscriber, for instance, you can't access any of HBO's streaming content. But if you're with a provider that supports HBO Go, connect your Kindle Fire to the internet via wifi, fire up the app, and have fun watching your favorite show.
