New Facebook Timeline feature now available worldwide

We first covered Facebook's front page profile redesign — named Timeline — several months ago. At the time it appeared that the social network's populous would be able to use the new feature in a matter of days, but legal issues prevented the company from fully introducing the refresh to everyone. Last week, Facebook revealed that the Timeline switch was indeed poised to happen, and today the network announced its worldwide rollout.

The profile revamp will appear as an option on the top of your Facebook home page shortly — if it's not there already — or you can be proactive and push the change through yourself by checking out the Introducing Timeline explainer. When you make the switch, any changes you make to your Facebook profile will be saved privately for a period of 7 days. During this time you can perfect your outward-facing social network persona and ensure a spotless appearance to anyone who may be searching for you. After the 7 day buffer, the change will be pushed live and — if your privacy settings allow it — visitors to your page may see a whole new you.

If you're still unfamiliar with what Timeline is, and what it means for your social networking habits, be sure to check out our video tour of the new feature, and browse our gallery of Timeline snapshots.
