Disney creates a method for turning plants into touch sensors

Disney's theme parks are synonymous with gorgeous light displays and surreal animatronics. The company's latest project really takes the theme park experience to the next level — Botanicus Interacticus, "a technology for designing highly expressive interactive plants, both living and artificial."

Judging from Disney's preview tease, the tech seems intriguing: A skilled pair of hands played the air around a living orchid like an instrument, causing an ear-pleasing modulation of sound. And the entire sensation can be projected into light, with each passing finger causing an ephemeral wave of color.
