Cops catch drunken thief who accidentally calls 911 on himself twice

If you're a victim or witness of a crime, the best thing to do is to call 911 immediately. If you're in the middle of committing a crime, however, we'd recommend against calling emergency services. Because that's exactly what a 47-year-old Washington man did — twice — before being arrested by police for suspicion of drunk driving.

The alleged thief unknowingly dialed 911 around 11:30 PM on Tuesday when his phone was in his pocket. Emergency dispatchers overheard a woman screaming and a man telling her to stop — enough of a reason to give police information about the car's location. Police were able to locate the car driving through a red light in Tacoma, Wash., and gave chase. Ultimately, the suspect abandoned the (assumed stolen) car and a K-9 unit was unable to hunt the thief down.

But that's just the beginning of the saga for our alleged crook. After evading the police for his first crime, he broke into and stole another car. And amazingly enough, he once again pocket dialed 911. That time, police tracked him down to a different Tacoma neighborhood, where he was finally caught and arrested.
