Is this $100,000 iPhone 5 case the ideal smartphone accessory or a waste of money?

We here at Tecca have some excellent news to report: All problems with world hunger have been solved, and the poor of this country are no longer struggling. After all, what else could explain why the Natural Sapphire Company has released this, the first case for the soon-to-be-released iPhone 5 with a price tag in the six-figure range?

The case owes its blue hue to sapphires, and a lot of them — 2,830 to be exact; a total of 169.8 carats. The Apple logo is set with 2.28 carats of rubies, with a lone green sapphire for the apple's leaf. The body of the case is 18-karat white gold. If you wish, the company will personalize the phone for you, allowing you to choose a different color of sapphire or metal of construction.

Buying one of these needlessly lavish cases will cost you $100,000 — about 600 times what it costs Apple to make one iPhone. And considering that this phone case will be destined for a "Ca$h 4 Gold" establishment once the iPhone 6 gets released, you may be better off holding on to your money. But we don't have to tell you that — if you're smart enough to have this kind of money to spend on an iPhone case, then you're probably smart enough not to spend this much on one.
