Listen: Daft Punk’s New Single “Get Lucky”

Daft Punk’s highly anticipated new single, “Get Lucky,” made its way to earth Friday, premiering around the world at 12:01am EST.

The buzz surrounding the arrival of the French dance duo’s new album, Random Access Memories, is reaching fever pitch, and the fact that it’s been eight years since the release of their last full-length studio album, Human After All, is adding fire to the fuel.

If “Get Lucky” is any indication, it’s bound to be a joyous romp filled with the band’s trademark electronic beats and vocoder-enhanced vocals laid neatly over a foundation of funky grooves and danceable rhythms.

The track, which has already reached the top of the iTunes chart in the U.S. and 45 other countries, features Pharrell Williams on vocals, singing, “I’m up all night to get lucky” with his trademark smooth delivery. Famed disco producer Nile Rodgers adds bright disco guitar riffs that are the backbone of the tune.

Daft Punk has been teasing its comeback all week, debuting a trailer for the new album on a main-stage screen at the Coachella Festival last weekend as well as in a commercial during “Saturday Night Live,” and on Monday a video was released in which Williams opened up about his contributions to the new album.

Random Access Memories is due out May 21. The single is available now on iTunes and can be heard below.
