The Jonas Brothers Officially Split: ‘We’re Closing a Chapter’

Fans hoping the Jonas Brothers could patch things up and go "A Little Bit Longer" are out of luck.

After pulling the plug on their tour earlier this month due to what their manager described as a "deep rift" between the group, the singing siblings are officially splitting.

"It's over for now," eldest Kevin Jonas, 25, told People magazine.

"It was a unanimous decision," added Joe, 24.

And while "It's really hard to say 'forever,'" said Nick, "we're closing a chapter, for sure."

The magazine reports that things between the brothers, who formed their band in 2005 and shot to fame thanks to their Disney Channel series, came to a head on October 3 during a business meeting. Nick, 21, told his older brothers that he had concerns about their future.

"I was feeling kind of trapped," said Nick, who started his own band, Nick Jonas & the Administration, in late 2009, and has focused more on his acting work in recent years, including a run in "Les Misérables" on Broadway's West End, a role in the upcoming film "Careful What You Wish For," and TV guest roles. "I needed to share my heart with my brothers." (It's interesting that Nick seemed to pull the plug because the group actually came to be because of him. A child star on Broadway at the age of 7, he was shopping around demos — on which his brothers helped out — and Columbia Records ending up signing them as a group act.)

Soon after that early October meeting during which Nick expressed his concerns and they canceled their tour, they deactivated their official Twitter account, @JonasBrothers, which signified to their many loyal fans that the end was near.

Throughout this drama, there has also been speculation about Joe Jonas's health and well-being when he was spotted with renowned addiction specialist Mike Bayer.

Joe addresses those addiction rumors — and the brothers talk more about their decision to split — in the new issue of People, which goes on sale Friday.
