Rent from a star: celebrities who are landlords

[Yahoo! Homes editor's note: This is a guest blog post from Zillow, drawn from previous research and updated.]

Who's your ideal landlord? A responsive person who gets the repairman to you on time? Someone who allows pets and doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the security deposit?

What about a celebrity?

Quite a few stars — Orlando Bloom, Pamela Anderson and Leonardo DiCaprio among them — have tried their hand at landlord responsibilities, listing their high-end homes as rentals.

So if you're interested in renting from the stars, here are a few of the celebrity homes currently for lease.

Orlando Bloom

Actor Orlando Bloom took on a whole new world of responsibilities when he married Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr and became father to their first child, Flynn. While raising a family is tough enough, Bloom is apparently willing to be a landlord too, placing his three-quarter-acre Hollywood Hills compound on the rental market for $18,000 a month. Bloom's Hollywood Hills compound at 2645 Outpost Drive is a gated estate consisting of a 1-story, 3250-square-foot home with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, outdoor dining patio with built-in barbecue, library, and swimming pool.

Hollywood party house

Known as the Hollywood party house, the Hollywood Hills rental at 189 Sunset Plaza Drive was built to give renters no choice but party until the wee hours. Perhaps that's why the furnished, 6,532-square-foot pad has attracted such tenants as Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and, yes, Fabio. According to the Los Angeles Times, the seven-level house is owned by glamour photographer Richard Franklin, who first put the property up for sale, asking $7.5 million. Now, the legendary house is looking for a leaser willing to pay $34,995 a month.

The infamous house features a 2-story disco with programmable lighting and sound, a casino room with three tables, home theater with floor-to-ceiling movie screen, a dancing studio with pole, cave grotto with hot tub, 6 bathrooms, and 4 bedrooms all of which open to the outdoor swimming pool. A canopied deck tops of the pool area, where a spa, sauna, steam and shower room can also be conveniently found.

Pamela Anderson

Another celebrity rental is available in Malibu: Blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson's home at 23445 Malibu Colony Road is for rent. Anderson sought $50,000 a month this summer, but it looks like now she'll settle for just $30,000. Located a block from the ocean, the teak-sided home features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 2,700 square feet; see photos on Zillow. According to property records, Anderson purchased the house in 2000 for $1.8 million.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Looking for a rental in Malibu, Calif.? Leonardo DiCaprio's home at 23736 Malibu Colony Road is available to lease, or you can just take it off DiCaprio's hands altogether and buy it for $23 million. The beachfront home is listed for $75,000 a month and sits on a nearly half an acre of prime Malibu real estate with full beach access. The property has three living areas: a 4-bedroom main house, a two-bedroom guest house, and a loft with a gym, a media room and office space.

Natasha Bedingfield

British singer Natasha Bedingfield purchased her home in Los Angeles' Los Feliz area for $2.3 million in 2009, shortly after her marriage to Malibu businessman Matt Robinson. She listed the home for rent over the summer at $18,000 a month; now Bedingfield is asking $16,995, but the home is leased till March. The 5-bed, 5.5-bath, 4,792-square-foot home was built in 1953 and has been updated with "no expense spared."
