On Twitter, Clinton’s virtuosity can’t top Michelle Obama’s appeal

While Bill Clinton arguably brought greater electricity than Michelle Obama to his convention speech--a convenient observation to make since it cannot be measured--the First Lady is the undisputed victor when it comes to Twitter metrics. Obama peaked with 90,000 tweets in a 10-minute span to Clinton's 60,000, with both peaks corresponding to the moment the speakers took the stage.

The metrics here correspond to overall tweets about the Democratic convention, not tweets corresponding only to the names of the speakers. (Attensity, the Twitter analytics firm with which the Signal partners, collects every tweet that mentions any of a variety of DNC-related phrases and hashtags.) This way, we are sure to produce a fair comparison between all players.
