A parade in St. Louis has earned its place in the Guinness Book of World Records using a combination of bacon, costumed dogs and a little more Bacon.

The 20th annual Beggin’ Pet Parade brought out thousands of dogs dressed in football-themed costumes in advance of last week’s Super Bowl. Last year’s Pet Parade earned the Guinness mark last year when 1,326 costumed dogs were paraded down the streets of St. Louis’ French Quarter, Soulard.

With the record in place, a surefire way to generate even more excitement is to add bacon to the mix. This year’s parade featured “bacon-themed games,” a “Weiner Dog Derby” and a live performance from actor Kevin Bacon’s band, the Bacon Brothers.

All of the proceeds from this year’s parade went to benefit the Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
