Hilarious video leads to unexpected sale of 17-year-old car

Here's proof that a good pitch can sell anything ... even a 17-year-old Nissan with a hood that needs to be tied down with rope.

Luke Aker created a video to help sell his not-so-gently used 1996 Maxima. But rather than just posting a regular old Craigslist ad with boring photos of the engine, trunk and odometer, Aker decided to create an ad in the style of a pretentious luxury car commercial with soft lighting, deep voice-over and analogies to humankind's greatest achievements.

Guess who saw the ad? The folks at Nissan USA, who made Aker an offer. On Aker's Ikonik Films Twitter feed, a spokesperson for the car company said Nissan was most definitely interested in giving the Maxima a good home.

The commercial was originally published in September as was an ad that Aker wrote for Craigslist, which is just as hilarious:

This pavement-yacht has a ride as smooth as a Pegasus' backside. Its such a massive and impressive land-yacht it requires the use of steering fluid that has been designed to leak out from underneath the car when it has been exhausted from the majestic work that it has done, released into the wild when the great Maxima when it has decided its time has come. This Maxima no longer needs to let the odometer tell it how far it has gone - it has chosen a path of greatness and valor and refuses to let silly numbers determine its life!

When contacted by Yahoo News, Aker wouldn't disclose how much Nissan paid him for his ride, but he did note that in addition to purchasing the car, the company would be donating to the Wounded Warrior charity.
