High school sweethearts reunite, marry after 58 years

You can't hurry love. Just ask Jack and Naomi Carter. Some 58 years after meeting and falling in love in high school, the two reconnected on the Internet.

It was Naomi who made the first move, writing Jack a letter. Soon enough, the two began speaking on the phone. A few months later, Jack sent Naomi a package. Inside was a wedding ring. Naomi said yes, and the two, now in their 70s, were quickly married.

So, what the heck took so long? In a word, life. The two were high school sweethearts, but Naomi and her family moved to Arizona during her senior year. Jack drove to see her once, but Naomi's mom told Jack she was away, so Jack went back home. The mom's reason for wanting to keep them apart was well intentioned--she wanted her daughter to go to college and she knew that if the two got together, that probably wouldn't happen.

Naomi did end up going to college. She got married and had two children, too. Jack, meanwhile, remained a bachelor, though he is quick to point out that he was "with other ladies." But, clearly, they never forgot each other. After Naomi became a widow, she found Jack online and, as the saying goes, (much, much) better late than never.
