Drunk driver crashes into “Booze It and Lose It” DWI checkpoint center

A North Carolina man is facing criminal charges after driving his Camaro sports car into a local DWI mobile command center Sunday morning at 2:45am. Police say they suspect 21-year-old Douglas Shane Southard was driving under the influence of alcohol.

"In the officer's opinion, alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor in the crash," said Maj. Kevin Yarborough of the Newton Police Department.

The "Booze It and Lose It" mobile command center is set up at various checkpoints across the state to keep drunk drivers off the road.
