Behind the scenes of Batkid's big day in San Francisco

When 5-year-old Miles Scott became Batkid as part of his Make-A-Wish fantasy, the city of San Francisco went completely over-the-top bananas.

In a good way.

Banners were made, crowds cheered, special newspapers were printed, and reporters came out in droves. Even President Barack Obama gave Miles a shout-out for thwarting the nefarious plans of supercriminals Riddler and Penguin.

Less publicized were the stories behind Batkid's big day about the people who made it a reality, the actor who played Miles' mentor and how the idea of letting a kid who beat cancer become a superhero went viral.

This 9-minute video, produced by the Make-A-Wish foundation, aims to give Batkid's fans (and there are many) a look into the Batkid phenomenon. It also serves as a reminder that simple ideas can unite thousands.

If (when) Hollywood decides to reboot the Batman franchise, may we humbly suggest Miles be given a screen test? He's definitely got Batman's deep voice down cold.  Check out his Christian Bale-like retort to the Riddler at around the 2:45 mark.
