Comic-Con: Where to get your own stormtrooper replica suit

There is no shortage of creative and original costumes on display at the annual Comic-Con convention in San Diego and other similar events around the world.

But attendees of this year’s Comic-Con can purchase their own stormtrooper armor suit that is modeled from the actual suit worn during 1977’s "Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope."

“I've always been a huge Star Wars fan and been inspired by what the 501st Legion of fan stormtroopers do around the world,” Los Angeles based Bryan Ono of eFX Inc. told Yahoo News. “But no one has ever been able to make this kind of completely accurate full-scale replica—or to go directly to the source and use a real, screen-used stormtrooper uniform as a model, so when I got the opportunity, I knew we had to jump at it.”

Ono meticulously created the replica using a casting of the actual stormtrooper suit from the film. That means the suit is built for display, rather than to be worn to parties or on Halloween. But if you’re a devout Star Wars fan, you can’t get more realistic than this, down to the actual body suit contained underneath the armor.

And now, you finally have something reasonable to put on display next to your working R2D2 astromech droid.

Ono tells Yahoo News that one of only two known costumes used in production of the first Star Wars film was sent to the United States from the U.K. and was used for the casting process.

The suit is available for pre-sale for about $2,000 with an expected shipping date of this fall and will be on display in its own booth at this year’s Comic-Con, which opens to the public on Thursday.

“This is an incredible piece that we hope honors what fans love most about Star Wars,” Ono said.
