Three Pennsylvania neighborhoods on ‘biggest homes’ list

Y!Philly staff and Bloomberg Businessweek reports

When you think of sprawling estates, McMansions and palatial hideaways, Pennsylvania might not immediately spring to mind, yet, according to a new report, the Keystone State has its share of outsized homes.

According to data provided to Businessweek.com by Altos Research, a real-time real estate data company in Mountain View, Calif., three Pennsylvania cities -- Venetia, Pittsburgh, and Wexford -- have neighborhoods that have cracked the top 10. Venetia's 15367 zip code is the top Pennsylvania city on the list, coming in at No. 4. The median size for homes in that area is 6,178.5 square feet, with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and a median list price of $498,000.

Pittsburgh's 15238 neighborhood is sixth on the list, with the same median number of bedrooms and bathrooms as Venetia and a higher median list price at $567,450, but a slightly smaller median square footage: 5,792.

Wexford's 15090 area comes in at No. 9 with a median square footage almost identical to Pittsburgh's -- 5,767 -- median list price at $399,950, and a median of 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
