In a world where thin is in, where does fat place itself? Has fat become a bad word that most women have become afraid of gaining weight? Celebrity stylist Alyanna Martinez and the Plump Pinay blogger twins Stacy and Danah Gutierrez defy the norm and prove that fat just means fat—nothing more and nothing less.
We’re not sure when thin became in but this is the accepted body type most women aspire to have. “Thin may be appealing because it’s almost the only body type glorified in the media,” 22-year-old Danah explains. Stacy agrees with her twin finding the skinny image forced upon women by the media crazy. “It’s our diversity that makes each of us unique and special individuals,” she adds.

So how does a full-figured woman embrace the body she was born with, well, fully? It all boils down to confidence. “No matter how cliché it may seem, it’s key,” says Alyanna. “If you are confident with yourself, it shows and you can carry what an otherwise shy person can’t.” Alyanna isn’t afraid to accept the fact that she will never be stick thin like other girls “but that’s okay,” she says. “I just want to feel and look as well as my body possibly can.”
For the twins, it is all about focusing on health and fitness. “I don’t want to focus on achieving a certain size or shape because it will get me to try to lose weight the wrong way,” Danah says. “I just want to get stronger and feel better than how I physically look on the outside. I work out because it’s good for my body,” Stacy adds.
Fat isn’t a bad word. Alyanna, Stacy and Danah consider themselves gifted with curves and those who aren’t blessed with a svelte body should, too. “People should stop using the word fat and accept themselves with the body they were given with,” Alyanna shares.
