Tré Cool! Miranda Lambert Will Team With Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong at Grammys

Sure, they both have more than a little punk-rock attitude, despite being from two very different genres of music. And they've both enjoyed mentoring duties on talent reality show "The Voice."

Still, aside from that, we're pretty sure nobody could have seen the combination of Miranda Lambert and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong coming at us for the 56th annual Grammy Awards -- the pair will be performing together Sunday evening, delivering a special tribute to the late Phil Everly, who died earlier this month.

Don't believe it? Here's a pic of the pair rehearsing, to prove it's really happening!

Last November, Armstrong teamed up with vocalist (and Little Willies frontwoman) Norah Jones to record foreverly, an interpretation of the Everly Brothers' 1958 album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.

Five-time Grammy winner Armstrong and Grammy winner Lambert each have a nomination Sunday night: Armstrong is up for Best Music Film (as a member of Green Day) for ¡Cuatro!; Lambert has a nod in Best Country Solo Performance for "Mama's Broken Heart."

The 56th annual Grammy Awards will air live Sunday night from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tune into CBS at 8 p.m. ET for the show. Stick with Yahoo Music all week long and throughout the weekend for complete Grammys coverage.
