More Trouble for Trace: Adkins's Wife Files for Divorce

Trace Adkins is weathering blow after blow in 2014. The singer went to rehab for alcohol abuse in January following an altercation with a celebrity impersonator on a country-music-themed cruise. Then, in February, he suffered the loss of his father. This month has proved no easier: He's just been served divorce papers by his wife of 16 years.

Rhonda Forlaw Adkins filed the paperwork, dated March 24, in Franklin, Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. According to the document, which was obtained by Yahoo Music, she is asking for primary custody of the couple's three daughters, as well as child support, alimony, and attorney's fees.

The pair were married in 1997; Rhonda worked for a Nashville record label prior to their marriage.

This is Trace Adkins's third marriage; he suffered a particularly acrimonious relationship with his second wife, who shot him through the heart and lungs during an argument in 1994.

The 52-year-old country star had finished his stint in rehab following his father's death and prior to his wife's filing, and recently appeared with the band Exile in a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry.
