Woman says she found a worm in her Wendy’s salad (and didn’t like it)

People. You just can’t please some people. WTVJ NBC 6 is reporting that a South Florida resident claims to have found a worm inside her chicken BLT Cobb salad and isn’t happy about it.

Ivette, who is only giving her first name, says that on November 7 she and her boyfriend Ahmed picked up a salad to go from a Hollywood, Florida Wendy’s. It took only one bite for Ivette to realize something was off, “I tasted something sour. And I was like 'wait, this is strange.' I spit it out and then I see what looked like a worm to me.” And we all know that classic saying – “If looks like a worm, and tastes like something that one could imagine is what a worm tastes like, but more importantly as we already mentioned, looks like a worm, it’s probably a worm.” Terrible saying, really.

Ivette took a peek and saw that the worm she had just sampled was not the only one - there was another little fella in her salad. Sickened, Ivette and Ahmed sought medical attention. Ivette told WTVJ, “I went to the hospital because I felt nauseated the entire time.” But maybe worse than that for the two upset customers was what they claim was an indifferent response from the Wendy’s manager. Ivette says, “They just brushed it off. Like it's not a big deal. It's just a worm. But today it's a worm, what's it going to be next time?"

Ivette and Ahmed have retained the services of attorney Mark Pacin. Pacin has filed a claim, but tells NBC 6 that this isn’t about money, “My clients didn't come to me and say 'I want money.' They came to me and said we want to make sure that others are aware as to what's going on. This is not about money, this is really about public concern."

On Wendy’s side of the matter, they released a statement:

“We take claims very seriously. The quality of our food is very important to us. At this stage we are gathering information because we were not aware of this claim.”

NBC 6 also did some digging and found that this Wendy’s “has passed all of its most recent restaurant inspections.” We here at Odd News did some digging as well. On Wendy’s website you can customize a salad to tailor it to your needs. We thought perhaps worms were an available topping option. We were ASTONISHED when we saw this:

But uh, it was pointed out to us that those aren’t worms, but rather just little squiggly lines of salad dressings, and that the fact that they’re “clearly labeled as dressings” should have made it obvious to us. Still, though. Right? Right? No? No.
