This lady just can’t get enough of filing lawsuits – nearly 80 over the past 2 decades

XETV San Diego 6 News is telling everyone about 47-year-old Pamela Stickler. The Southern California woman has filed almost 80 lawsuits over the past two decades. The majority have been found to be meritless and thus, thrown out. Stickler’s filed them against normal everyday people, but also some notable people and institutions including:

Bill Clinton

Royal Family of Spain

The IRS

Marriott

In 2003, Stickler was placed on the “Vexatious Litigants List,” a list of a thousand-plus California residents who have, “commenced, prosecuted, or maintained in propria persona at least five litigations other than in a small claims court that have been (i) finally determined adversely to the person or (ii) unjustifiably permitted to remain pending at least two years without having been brought to trial or hearing.” The punishment for this isn't so severe. As XETV puts it, "Vexatious litigants must seek pre-approval from a judge before initiating a lawsuit in a California court." Ms. Stickler qualified for this list pretty easily. The only thing is, even though she was put on the list she didn’t stop. 6 News reports that in the last year alone, she hand-delivered claims to at least 10 cities in San Diego County.

The station spoke with legal analyst Jonathan Brenner, who said that frivolous lawsuits can cost quite a lot, ““You would have to hire an attorney, and the attorney would have to spend his or her time defending this frivolous lawsuit. It could cost thousands, tens of thousands of dollars, and in certain instances even more.” Channel 6 tried to find Ms. Stickler for comment but couldn’t find her.
