Glinda Salgado is a co-owner of the Elden Market & Deli in Herndon, Virginia. Amongst the items for sale there are lottery tickets. So when she learned that her store sold a winning ticket, and thus would be receiving a $10,000 bonus, she was happy. But when she learned who had won the ticket, shewas even happier, as WTTG FOX 5 News reports.
You see, Glinda had sold the winning ticket to herself. She didn’t realize it for a while however, telling WTTG, “I didn’t think it was me, so I didn’t check my ticket.” Almost two weeks after learning that she had sold the winning ticket, she realized she was going to be the lucky recipient. The ticket was worth a $1 million prize, but because she had spent an extra buck for the “Megaplier,” she’ll actually be winning $3 million, making that one of the best $1 investments in recent memory.
WJLA ABC 7 News points out that the Elden Market & Deli is in a part of the world that is no stranger to lottery luck. Back in 2011, someone won a $107 million Mega Millions jackpot at the nearby Giant store.
