Schools close down after dogs chase deer through their hallways (with video)

It’s a tale as old as time: dogs chasing deer through school hallways. I think. I think that’s a thing. Either way, as WBFF FOX Baltimore reports, that’s exactly what happened at Southern Middle School in Lothian, Maryland in the wee hours of Monday morning. And, it was all caught on video.

Police were alerted to a burglar alarm that had been tripped at 3:50 A.M. As The Capital Gazette reports, when law enforcement arrived, they found broken glass and both injured and dead deer. They also noticed two dogs - one a German shepherd and the other a German shepherd mix.

The owner of the two wayward mutts was found and is in the process of being interviewed by the police. The damage to the school was actually pretty extensive. The Gazette spoke with the school’s spokesperson, Bob Mosier, who said repairs could cost as much as $5,000. Southern Middle School, as well as Lothian Elementary (which is temporarily housed in the middle school as they await a new facility) had to cancel classes.
