Bobcat kitten discovered in spa wall

Ann Patton, manager of the Waldorf Astoria Spa at the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, says that last Thursday, staff were coming to her to let herknow that there was an odd noise coming from the walls of the business. Ms. Patton told KTVK 3TV Phoenix, “They called and said, 'Let's have one of our engineers come over because we think there's something in the wall.’” Engineers came in, took down part of the wall, and then looked inside. What they found was an adorable baby bobcat.

Ms. Patton can’t be certain as to how the little fella, that is believed to be somewhere around 7-weeks-old, wound up in her workplace’s wall, but did tell KTVK, “A lot of times the bobcats will take their babies to the roof and perhaps there was a vent up there that he fell down…” Kim Carr of the Southwest Wildlife Conservation says that Ms. Patton and her employees helped save the life of the kitten because it’s highly unlikely the mother would have been able to retrieve him.

Ms. Carr told the station what the future holds for the bobcat, saying, “He'll be fed every four hours until he is weaned and then he'll actually go into an outdoor enclosure with some bobcat foster parents that will be able to take it from there and kind of raise him and teach him how to be a wild bobcat."
