Jarome Iginla suffers grotesque finger injury in fight with Ryan Kesler (Video)

The Boston Bruins visited the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night for the first time since they won the Stanley Cup in Game 7 back in 2011.

Jarome Iginla wasn’t a member of that Bruins team, but he does have history with Ryan Kesler of the Canucks from back in his Calgary Flames days. Just 6:24 into the game, he knocked down the Vancouver forward, and the two dropped their gloves for a quick but spirited scrap.

As the video shows, Iginla appeared to jam his finger, potentially on Kesler’s visor, during the fight. He grabbed his hand and skated off the ice in intense pain.

The image above, captured by dafoomie (@dafoomie) on Twitter, shows why, as the ring finger on Iginla’s left hand going in a direction it should not go, keeping in mind we’re no doctors. (We leave that to Mark Recchi.)

Kesler and Iginla have fought before, in Calgary on Feb. 6, 2006. It was Kesler’s second season in the NHL. It was a hell of a scrap.

The best part was that neither of their hands looked like coat rack after the fight. Iginla wasn’t so lucky on Saturday.

But guess what? Iginla was BACK ON THE ICE in the second period. Because hockey is why. Wow.
